This client is currently seeking a highly motivated Senior Project Manager with extensive experience in tunnel design, construction and project management to join their dynamic team located in their Los Angeles office.
Project management, client engagement and technical leadership of various projects;
Plan, organize, and lead project teams in the delivery, design, and documentation of project requirements for large transit, highways, water and wastewater tunnels;
Assist in the development and presentation of bid proposals to pursue contracts for underground projects including large diameter tunnels, micro-tunnels, and trenchless applications, as tunnel structural rehabilitation projects;
Lead project teams in the development of geo-investigations, evaluation of geotechnical data, geo-structural analysis, design, evaluation and preparation of calculations and drawings and construction bid documents, preparation of feasibility studies for tunneling related projects including cost and schedule estimates;
Prepares standard documents, such as technical specifications, in accordance with applicable design codes;
Assist in the mentoring and management of senior, intermediate and junior engineers;
Supervises, coordinates and reviews the work of other tunnel engineers;
Liaison with other disciplines, professionals, clients and third parties as needed;
Contributes to the successful completion of projects in area of responsibility;
Preforms other duties as required.
Bachelor’s degree in Civil/ Structural Engineering or Geological Engineering from an accredited university;
Professional engineering designation or credentials for registration as a professional engineer is required; PMP is an asset;
15+ years’ experience in the design, construction and project management of underground and tunnel lining structures;
Experience in the design of tunnel excavation and support systems for transportation and water & wastewater projects;
Broad understanding of trenchless technologies and tunnelling methods;
Experience with design of shaft support techniques in both soil and rock environments;
Experience using computer analysis programs;
Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
Advanced knowledge in soil and rock mechanics, and ground/structural numerical methods and their application in ground or tunnel;
Ability to work with minimal supervision;
Excellent analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills;
Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills in complex and changing environments;
Active member of the tunnel design and construction professional community with experience managing complex underground projects for water, wastewater, transportation and other types of projects.
