  • Job Summary

    The appropriate level of technical expertise is required in order that the Job / Project Accountabilities listed below can be carried out to the necessary standard:

    • Scoping, tendering and administering ground investigations and acting as the Engineer;
    • Design of geotechnical works including slope stability, foundations, retaining structures, earthworks and ground improvement;
    • Reporting to the design team leader you will also interface directly with other ground engineering team members, from graduate to Directors and with other internal design teams and various disciplines;
    • You will have strong development skills and the technical ability, knowledge and competence to provide guidance and teaching to others, particularly junior staff, if and when required;
    • Ability to work collaboratively and iteratively within a multi-disciplinary design team, to ensure work packages are delivered on time and within budget;
    • Establishing strong working relationships and ensuring regular liaison with other internal teams;
    • Be aware of and understand the AECOM Project Management procedures, their importance and their application to projects, including monthly progress and budget reviews of projects;
    • Carry out regular design reviews in accordance with the company Quality Management System.

    Minimum Requirements

    • You will be a geotechnical engineer with a proven track record in the successful technical delivery of projects, in particular for Network Rail and/or Highways England;
    • You will be able to write clear and concise technical reports;
    • You will have a valid UK driving licence;
    • Due to the location of some of the projects you must be willing to travel within the UK.

    Preferred Qualifications

    A first degree in Civil Engineering, although individuals with an Engineering Geology or similar background will be considered

    You will have a MSc in Geotechnical Engineering, Engineering Geology or similar

    Chartered Engineer with ICE, IOM3 or equivalent
