Currently have a vacancy for a Survey Manager for our HS2 Main Civils Contract based in Euston. The HS2 Main Civils Contracts include both Lots S1 (Euston Tunnels & Approaches) and S2 (Northolt Tunnels). The combined value of the contracts is around £1.8billion with the works due for completion in 2025. The first 16 months of the project will involve detailed design, pricing and building up target cost, with work on site likely to start in early 2019. Scope of works includes twin-bored tunnels (TBM), SCL tunnels, shaft sinking, bridge demolition and reconstruction, services diversions, earthworks and the construction of site compounds. What will I be doing?
Support the Chief Engineer in co-ordination across all technical work streams, during each stage of the project. Technical work streams may include but are not limited to; all engineering disciplines, design management, digital engineering, sustainability, engineering surveying, asset management and industrialisation specific to sector requirements.
Lead on engineering surveying requirements.
Ensure that the team have the correct training/knowledge in how to work safely.
Setting out the works in accordance with the contract requirements before work is programmed to commence
Lead, Develop and Manage Engineering survey teams to meet project needs.
Ensure that the project have the appropriate survey control network to fulfil the construction requirements.
Share expert advice and guidance to the members of the engineering survey teams and other parts of the business related to engineering surveying and geospatial best practice.
Provide a topographical survey in preparation for engineering works on site, setting out for the works, reports and measures and final survey information.
Review with the engineering team that sufficient information is available and in the correct format to set out the works in accordance with the programme and to resolve any inconsistencies in the information provided including feedback on any changes made Key Performance Indicators
Ensure that the project has the appropriate survey control network to undertake their operational tasks.
Manage the topographic survey deliverables required by the designer, in accordance with OWOW.
Manage the technical skills of the engineering survey project team, and implement improvement plans.
Measure the performance of setting out errors and BIM savings.
Measure the commercial cost of surveying. About you
o Degree in Land Surveying or Engineering Surveying OR ONC/BTec in Land Surveying or Engineering Surveying and previous experience as an Senior Engineering Surveyor.
o Tunnelling experience (SCL and TBM) is ESSENTIAL
o CEng MCInstCES or working towards
o Extensive awareness of appropriate survey instruments, software and working methods.
o Full professional Membership of CICES or equivalent body
o A history of developing staff towards professional membership.
o Ability to sign professional body competencies.
o People leadership skills
o Commercial acumen
