    Site Engineer

    The purpose of this role is to provide site engineering duties Birmingham Resilience
    scheme. The scope of this project is both cross country pipeline, structures and tunnelling.
    The role will involve establishing the level and survey control for various contracts and
    setting out detailed works as per the contract drawings, ensuring that checks are made on a
    regular basis. While tunnelling this will include the secondary survey work within the tunnel
    and line and level control of the TBM.

    Key Responsibilities:
    Site engineering
    Establish the level and survey control for contracts
    Set out detailed works as per the contract drawings, ensuring checks are carried out on a
    regular basis
    While tunnelling, work on the TBM to maintain line and level, secondary survey control and
    assist in ring selection to maintain tolerances in line and level
    Ensure that records are accurate and comply with organisational and legal requirements
    Resolve any unexpected technical difficulties and other problems that may arise at any time
    Health, safety & environment
    Promote the Barhale Cardinal Rules and establish safe working cultures and practices
    Encourage a positive Near Miss reporting culture
    Comply with company procedures and legal obligations
    Promote and comply with environmental compliance
    Deliver the works safely
    Promote best practice
    Comply with company procedures
    Ensure work is delivered defect/snag free to the client’s specification
    Key measures & targets:
    Ensure that all works are set out to the tolerance required under the contract in a timely
    manner as to not delay the programme
    Timely handover of works and Quality records without outstanding defects in accordance
    with project delivery programme key dates
    Production of accurate records, drawing registers and weekly diaries

    Person Specification:
    The successful candidate is likely to meet all of the following criteria:
    Previous experience of setting out on civil engineering projects including deep shafts and
    Previous experience of shift work on a TBM, ideally on a small diameter machine
    Sound knowledge of construction methods, health and safety, and legal regulations
    Degree/HNC qualified in civil engineering, or equivalent
    Fully conversant with the use of robotic total station instruments
    Some experience of AutoCAD
    Previous experience in deep excavations and segmental tunnel construction
    CSCS card
    Cable avoidance training
    First aid training
    Confined space training
    Excellent communication skills
    Self-driven, results-oriented with a positive outlook
