    About Our Role

    The primary role of the Senior Technical Director – Tunnels is to provide technical leadership as well as develop and significantly grow GHD’s presence and market share across the market sectors of Water, Transport, Energy & Resources, Environment, and Property and Buildings globally. The Senior Technical Director is a senior member of the Service Group tasked with growing the level of technical excellence in our tunnels team for the design and delivery of underground structures. You will also assist the team to secure a pipeline of work for the Group in line with that groups and service line’s business plan, by leveraging internal and external relationships and leading effective business development and delivery activities.

    The primary function of this role across key performance indicators will be but not limited too;

    • Provide high level technical leadership for delivery of underground and multidisciplinary projects
    • Leverage technical knowledge to mentor senior and junior staff in the tunnels team
    • Provide innovative and effective project solutions to clients
    • Represent GHD as a thought leader in the industry
    • Serve as a design manager for key tunnels projects
    • Provide leadership for technical development activities
    • Identify technical development opportunities for Tunnel Service Line and GHD working closely with the Service Line Leader to respond to market needs
    • Provide leadership to the team in line with GHD core values including collaboration and mentoring
    • Timely delivery of services to meet scope, quality and budget requirements
    • Compliance with Quality and HSE requirements.

    To be successful you will ideally possess the following skills and experience;

    • Minimum Bachelor degree qualifications in civil engineering or related discipline as appropriate
    • Chartered status essential, eg CPEng, RPEQ, or equivalent
    • Proven experience in technical leadership and management of tunnel engineering and multi-disciplinary projects
    • Subject matter expert with over 25years post-graduate experience within the direct market sector
    • Coaching and mentoring team members
    • Have success in providing technical and design management leadership in developing and delivering tunnel projects within multi-disciplinary teams.
