CPBJH JV brings together two of Australia’s leading construction partners, CPB Contractors and John Holland, with unparalleled expertise in large-scale and complex project management, civil construction, traffic management and tunnelling.

The West Gate Tunnel is a partnership between the Victorian Government and Transurban. The Joint Venture has been chosen as the contractor for construction, which began in early 2018 following planning assessment.

About the Project

The West Gate Tunnel Project is a city-shaping project that will deliver a vital alternative to the West Gate Bridge, provide quicker and safer journeys, and remove thousands of trucks off residential streets. The project will include:

Widening the West Gate Freeway from eight lanes to 12 between the M80 Ring Road and Williamstown Road;
Building a 2.8km eastbound tunnel and a 4km westbound tunnel under Yarraville;
Constructing a bridge over the Maribyrnong River providing an alternative to the West Gate Bridge;
Constructing an elevated road along Footscray Road to the Port of Melbourne;
Major new cycling and pedestrian paths.

Your Opportunity

As an experienced Senior Environment Advisor working on large scale projects, your key responsibilities will include:

Identification and effective management of environmental risks.
Assist in the continual technical improvement of project environment management plans and systems.
Liaise with government bodies, IREA, Project Co and professional organisations on environmental matters and audits.
Monitor and report on key environmental performance requirements, EPR’s, approvals, objectives and standards for managing project environmental risks.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of all relevant legal, regulatory and company environmental requirements, ensuring management and staff are kept informed of any relevant changes to project requirements.
Manage the environmental budget allocation as required to ensure environmental management is undertaken in a cost effective manner.

About You

To be successful in this position you will need the following skills and attributes:

Bachelor Degree in Environmental Engineering, Science, Sustainability or other associated discipline
Post graduate qualifications, e.g. graduate certificate or graduate diploma in Environmental Engineering, Risk, Sustainability, Project Management or other associated disciplines.
Infrastructure Sustainability (IS) Training for Professionals
Knowledge of Environmental Management Systems
Sound understanding of environmental management and sustainability principles and application within the construction industry
Quantitative and qualitative risk assessment and monitoring of risk controls and actions involved in delivery and implementation of projects
Knowledge of Environment legislation and statutes, and ability to interpret any applicable statutes or legislation relevant to Project
Ability to lead high level investigations involving multiple internal and external parties.
