Due to anticipated growth resulting from a strong pipeline of work being secured, we are currently looking to engage a Tunnel Design Engineer to join our Melbourne or Sydney office.
Your New Colleagues
Numbering approximately 45 people with specialist tunnels expertise encompassing geotechnical, civil, structural, fire life safety, tunnel ventilation and digital engineering, WSP has possibly the largest dedicated national tunnel design team in Australia. The team are thought leaders and technical experts in their respective disciplines and deliver projects of all scales across the road, rail and utility sectors. Working collaboratively as a highly effective, cohesive unit they achieve great scale and synergy in delivering major projects, fast becoming the go-to leader in the Transport sector across Australia and New Zealand.
Further to ongoing success in the sector, we are growing this Tunnel Engineering discipline to continue delivering for portfolio of clients, ranging from government, owner/operators, top-tier contractors and all the way through to safety regulators.
A Typical Day For You
Contributing toward timely and quality delivery of project, design, analysis and tunnel engineering work in support of relevant technical and regulatory standards;
Maintain effective stakeholder relationships, both internally, and at times externally including clients, involving contributing expertise and toward tailored, economical solutions;
Contributing toward low-to-medium scale projects and major scale projects as delegated, and;
Embodying enthusiasm to work as part of a collaborative, national and global team within a multidisciplinary design setting.
What We’ll Love About You
Bachelor to Master level degree in Civil/Structural Engineering;
Circa 2 to 4+ years’ experience on tunnel engineering projects within the transport infrastructure sector;
Exposure to tunnel structural/ground support design in one of segmental linings, insitu concrete linings and/or initial ground support;
Proficiency with producing accurate design models via Strand 7, FLAC, Plaxis and/or RocScience;
Well versed assisting project leaders with technical and broader design delivery requirements;
Track record of working effectively as part of multidisciplinary design teams on projects, and;
Effective communication (written and verbal) and teamwork skills.
